About Us

Eastern Ranges has been formed by the amalgamation of two rival clubs in Rudall and Cleve.
Rudall and Cleve have both been strong family community sporting clubs for a long period but the loss of families to the two areas lead them into talks about amalgamation which was finalised in late 2011.

WELCOME TO EASTERN EYRE

RANGES CLUB INC

Eastern Ranges was formed in 2012 for winter sports netball and football playing each week at the grounds of each community sports club alternately between the Rudall Community Sports Club and the Cleve Sporting Bodies Ovals.

The Eastern Eyre Ranges Club aims to provide an opportunity for the youth of our area to participate in Australian Rules Football and Netball to enhance their health and well-being through organised sport.
The Club, will at all times, endeavour to provide for the health, welfare and well being of its players, supporters and spectators.
This aim will be achieved by promoting and developing the following values and objectives:

· A sense of social and community values.
· An environment to nurture the physical and mental development of our youth.
· Respect for officials, opposition players and supporters.
· The virtues of fair and disciplined play.
· Equal opportunities for everyone.

They will be realised in the following ways:

· Competent and qualified coaches and assistants.
· Adequate facilities, amenities and equipment.
· Supervised social functions encouraging family participation.
· Regular communication and consultation with players and parents.
· Active leadership and management of the Club.

All players, Coaches and Officials, parents, supporters and Committee members have a responsibility at all times when representing the Eastern Eyre Ranges Club to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner consistent with these values and or Codes of Conduct.

Eastern Ranges coaching at youth level is an extremely rewarding experience, but it comes with the challenge of dealing with young athletes who are coming to terms with changes in their life.
It can be a difficult and demanding period for the players as they juggle a number of areas.
These crucial player development
years require delicate management skills to look at improving the ‘all-round athlete’.

At Eastern Ranges we believe that when developing young players, we need to look at ‘effective coaching’ rather than
basing our success on ‘results coaching’. This means that we need to have a mentality of coaching young players for
the future rather than just coaching for the present.
A successful youth coach needs to have the following characteristics:
1: Organised
2:  Prepared
3:  Positive, enthusiastic and encouraging
4:  Empathy for the player (remember how tough the game really is)

PARENTS CODE OF CONDUCT

1: Remember that children play sport
for their enjoyment, not yours.

2: Encourage children to participate –
do not force participation upon them.

3: Focus on the child’s efforts and self-esteem rather than whether they win or lose.

4: Encourage children to always participate according to the rules.

5: Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake or for the team losing a game.

6: Remember that children learn best by example – applaud the efforts of all players in both teams.

7: Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from sporting activities.

8: Show appreciation of volunteer coaches, officials and administrators, without whom your child could not participate.

9: Respect umpires’ decisions and teach children to do likewise.

10: Remember that smoking and the consumption of alcohol is unacceptable at junior sport.

SPORT FOR CHILDREN IS A VITAL PART OF THEIR GROWING UP.

CHILDREN LIKE TO WIN, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY THEY WANT TO HAVE FUN.

PARENTS NEED TO SET THE RIGHT EXAMPLE AT THE SPORTS GROUND, NOT JUST AT HOME.

SPORT IS IMPORTANT TO CHILDRENS SELF ESTEEM.
